Last Error Recorded


    On some Hotpoint and related washing machines they incorporated a last fault recorder, which would let the engineer know the area to address regarding a repair. This is signified by the option LEDs flashing when the control knob is rotated. Below are the instructions for the various models listed and at the base of this page are the code definitions.


    Hotpoint WMA30/31/32/33/40/42/44/46/48/50/52/54/56/58/ & WMM39A/53/59

  • Turn the selector to off or 0
  • Press the SUPER RINSE and RINSE HOLD buttons at the same time, while you select H on the dial. Hold them in for 5 seconds.
  • The SUPER RINSE, RINSE HOLD, and WASH LEDs will now flash.
  • Press the START/CANCEL for 2 seconds and the RINSE HOLD LED will be lit, the SUPER RINSE LED will be flashing, and the FINAL SPIN LED could be either on or off.
  • Press the RINSE HOLD button briefly and the RINSE HOLD LED will start flashing, the SUPER RINSE LED will be lit.
  • Now turn the selector dial anti-clockwise back to A
  • Turn the dial slowly through the first 4 programs ending on D and make a note of the Final Spin LED, if it's on or off. Check your results against the grid at the bottom of the page, and this will tell you what the last error code indicated. (you should have a selection of 4 )

  • Hotpoint WMA9/12/20/22-FEW10/12

  • Turn the selector to off or 0
  • Press the RINSE HOLD and ENERGY SAVE buttons at the same time, while you select H on the dial. Hold them in for 5 seconds.
  • The RINSE HOLD and ENERGY SAVE LEDs will now flash.
  • Press the START/RESET for 2 seconds and the ENERGY SAVE LED will be lit, the RINSE HOLD LED will be flashing, and the DOOR LOCKED LED could be either on or off.
  • Press the ENERGY SAVE button briefly and the ENERGY SAVE LED will start flashing, the RINSE HOLD LED will be lit.
  • Now turn the selector dial anti-clockwise back to A
  • Turn the dial slowly through the first 4 programs ending on D and make a note of the Final Spin LED, if it's on or off. Check your results against the grid at the bottom of the page, and this will tell you what the last error code indicated. (you should have a selection of 4 )

  • Turn the selector to off
  • Press the HALF LOAD and ECONOMY buttons at the same time, while you select H on the dial. Hold them in for 5 seconds.
  • The SUPER RINSE, RINSE HOLD, and WASH LEDs will now flash.
  • Press the START/CANCEL for 2 seconds and the RINSE HOLD LED will be lit, the SUPER RINSE LED will be flashing, and the FINAL SPIN LED could be either on or off.
  • Press the HALF LOAD button briefly and the HALF LOAD LED will start flashing, the ECONOMY LED will be lit.
  • Now turn the selector dial anti-clockwise back to A
  • Turn the dial slowly through the first 4 programs ending on D and make a note of the Final Spin LED, if it's on or off. Check your results against the grid at the bottom of the page, and this will tell you what the last error code indicated.(you should have a selection of 4 )

  • Press the SUPER RINSE (Aclarado Extra) and RINSE HOLD (Stop Antiarrugas) buttons at the same time, while you select 8 on the dial. Hold them in for 5 seconds.
  • The SUPER RINSE (Aclarado Extra), RINSE HOLD (Stop Antiarrugas), and WASH (Lavado)LEDs will now flash.
  • Press the START/RESET(Marcho Paro) for 2 seconds and the RINSE HOLD (Stop Antiarrugas) LED will be lit, the SUPER RINSE (Aclarado Extra) LED will be flashing, and the SPIN (Centrifugado)LED could be either on or off.
  • Press the RINSE HOLD (Stop Antiarrugas) button briefly and the RINSE HOLD (Stop Antiarrugas) LED will start flashing, the SUPER RINSE (Aclarado Extra) LED will be lit.
  • Now turn the selector dial anti-clockwise back to A
  • Turn the dial slowly through the first 4 programs ending on D and make a note of the Spin (Cetrifugado)LED, if it's on or off. Check your results against the grid at the bottom of the page, and this will tell you what the last error code indicated.(you should have a selection of 4 )

LED OFF      LED ON  

Could not spin, out of balance load. Re distribute load, if only a few items in machine add more.
Door open or interlock faulty. Check interlock and associated wiring for open circuit.
Fill fault. Check solenoid and fill hose, check pressure switch and chamber for blockage.
Pump out fault. check pump and sump for blockages check wiring and connections.
Thermistor fault. Check thermistor connections and wiring, check module.
Tacho fault. Check motor and associated wiring, check motor plug for loose or broken terminal.
Tacho open circuit. Check for loose or defective wiring or connections check module connections.
Motor triac short circuit. Check module for burnt out track, check motor wiring and connections.
